In connection with this summer’s Sunday theme (What Were They Thinking), I’m interviewing members of our congregation, highlighting the different events and groups so we can get to know Family of Christ people even better. -Solveig Nelson, Summer Media Specialist
What Were They Thinking?
Jim Leonard-Common Thread
Question: How do you think you’d describe Common Thread?
Jim: “Common Thread is a group of “seniors” focused on the common thread of our faith and being mutually supportive.”
Question: What do you think has been your favorite event Common Thread has done in the past year?
Jim: “Our participation in the RibFest at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg; in fact, it is coming up again on Saturday, August 17! It is open to all ages, it is a major fund drive for the youth of their church…and FABULOUS RIBS”
Question: What do you think you like most about Common Thread events?
Jim: “We have a very informal social atmosphere, providing support to each other and the church as a whole.”
Question: What do you hope to see Common Thread do in the future?
Jim: “What do we hope to see Common Thread do in the future: It is important to continue to grow in numbers, welcome the next generation of seniors, and grow our number of service projects and contributions to the church.”
Lisa, Tony, Anna (5), and Jack (2) -O.W.L (Only with Littles, families with young children)
Question: What do you think was your favorite part about the O.W.L event from July 14th?
Anna: I liked the bubble jewel, popping the bubbles, and playing on the playground.
Tony: “Enjoyed watching all the kids have fun together.”
Lisa: “It was fun to meet some families I didn’t know and watch the kids have so much fun.”
Question: What do you think has been your favorite part of the church?
Anna: “Sunday School.”
Question: “What do you like best about Sunday School?”
Jack: *makes a noise* (playing with the tractor and bubbles in the nursery)
Question: What do you think has been a past event your family has enjoyed being a part of?
Lisa: “The block party is always good, and the 5K we participated in. I also think the best part about being here with young kids is that there are lots of opportunities for kids to be involved like being apart of the service or service projects. We look forward to all the programming that FoC has to offer.”
(The next O.W.L event is on Thursday, August 8th, at 5:30 PM at Lake Susan in Chanhassen)
